Senior Crown Counsel – Criminal Prosecutions

The Solicitor-General invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for the position of Senior Crown Counsel in the Cook Islands Crown Law Office in Rarotonga.


The Crown Law Office provides legal services to the government, including the King’s Representative, Cabinet, the Prime Minister, Ministers, and other government entities and statutory bodies. Working in the Crown Law Office provides a unique opportunity to practice in a friendly and supportive environment across a diverse range of practice areas, including legislative drafting, commercial and contract law, litigation, criminal prosecutions, international law and public law.


Applicants for the Senior Crown Counsel position require 6-10 years’ experience in criminal practice. The successful applicant will be in a unique position to help lead the Office’s prosecution function.

Crown Counsel

The Solicitor-General invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for the position of Crown Counsel in the Crown Law Office in Rarotonga.


The Crown Law Office provides legal services to the government, including the King’s Representative, Cabinet, the Prime Minister, Ministers, and other government entities and statutory bodies. Working in the Crown Law Office provides a unique opportunity to practice in a friendly and supportive environment across a diverse range of practice areas, including legislative drafting, commercial and contract law, litigation, criminal prosecutions, international law and public law.


Applicants for Crown Counsel require 3-6 years of experience in at least two of the following practice areas: public, regulatory, commercial, civil, criminal, and/or litigation (civil and/or criminal). We are particularly interested in candidates with criminal experience, to help support the office’s prosecution function.


Remuneration will be competitive and commensurate with experience and job fit.
